Mom Set Sergeant Straight!

DoDo has always been a healthy child other than childhood illnesses he was never sick. However, when he was doing his AIT in Lawton, Ok he called me and could barely talk. He said, “Ma I am so sick I don’t know what to do”. I told him to tell his drill sergeant to let him go to the infirmary but knowing DoDo as I do I knew he wasn’t going to do it. So, I got on the phone spoke with his drill sergeant and told him that if he didn’t let my baby go to the infirmary that I would be on the first thing smoking to get my baby and bring him home until he was well. The drill sergeant assured me that he would allow him to go to the infirmary to get medical attention. I told him that he should have known that my baby was sick he was up in his face. A few days later DoDo called and said “Mama Mama don’t you cry your baby boy ain’t gonna die”(a chant that he learned in training”). When I got to his graduation everyone knew who I was because the drill sergeant had told everyone that Gaddy’s mother called and set him straight. I shook the drill sergeant's hand and gave him a big hug. He then went on to tell me so many good things about my son’s progress and how he had done an outstanding job with his platoon.
