It Was So Hard To Say Goodbye
The dreadful day when the recruiter came for my son. I was happy that he had made the choice to serve in the military because that was what he had always wanted to do, yet I was sad that he was going to be gone away. I could not stop crying and telling him how much I was going to miss him and how much I loved him. Then he said, “Ma if you don’t let me go they are going to think that I have gone AWOL before I even get there”. So, that kind of cheered me up a little and made me laugh. He always knew what to say and when to say it.
