Daycare Disaster

I have always been the one who chose to save some of my vacation days just for inclement weather. This particular day it had snowed and I called in to my work and told then that I would be taken a vacation day. Doug my boss asked me if he picked me up would I come in, I told Doug sure I would. So, when Doug arrived I got DoDo and we headed for the day care. DoDo would like to get out of the car and go in by himself. So just as usual he got out went to the door and waved bye. So, Doug and I headed on to work. When I got to work one of my co-workers asked who was keeping DoDo. I told her that I had taken him to day care. She said “Carolyn didn’t you know that they closed the day care?” I almost had a major fit. I jumped out of my seat and headed for the door running like a woman in rage. Just as I got to the door Doug caught me and said that I had an important phone call. It was my mother who had called to tell me that DoDo was ok. She said that a nice lady who lived across the street from the day care saw DoDo standing outside so she went to his rescue. He told her that his grandmother’s name was Margaret Gaddy and she lived on Mt Vernon Ave. The nice lady called my mother and my mother had her send DoDo to her house in a cab. When I saw my baby I grabbed, hugged, kissed, and told him how sorry that I was, that I thought the day care was opened and that I would never leave him again. He said, ”mama I was calling for you to come back but you didn’t hear me”. He was only 2 ½ years old.
